Location
This was taking whilst returning from a winter trip around the Westfjords of Iceland, staying in nearby Husafell. That evening climbed the extinct Grabok volcano and was treated to an incredible light show with the aurora in full swingTime
This was about 10pm on a clear winter's night, just before moonriseLighting
Lighting is all natural!! Mother Nature provided all!!Equipment
This was a 20 second exposure using a 50 mm f1.4 lens full open. My Nikon D90 was definitely on a tripod!!Inspiration
The amazing green light swirling above was the only inspiration required!Editing
None needed!In my camera bag
Normally Nikon D90 with 18-300 mm lens, and also the 50 mm f1.4 that was used in this shotFeedback
Obviously the long exposure and tripod are required - next time I would be tempted to work with smaller apertures and longer exposures to try to retain some clarity in night sky. Also a shutter remote, or using a timer also helps avoid and tripod shaking when taking the photo
