Kathy, I'm soooo jealous, this is an AMAZING shot of Convict lake. Colors, reflections prospective. Congrats on your entry.

Location
This photo was taken on a weekend trip to one of our favorite spots, Convict Lake, CA. I live in the high desert in California and it's very HOT here so we love to drive up to the mountains to cool off. Luckily there was a little snow left!Time
My family and I like to hike all the way around the lake. I took this photo before we started on the trail at around 10am.Lighting
I love the natural light in this photo and the way everything reflected so nicely off the water.Equipment
I used a Sony a6000 with a wide angle lens.Inspiration
I love visiting Convict Lake so much so I wanted to capture the lake with the mountains so I can look at it all the time. I printed it on 16 x 24 aluminum and it's hanging in my home. It's amazing on aluminum and the depth really comes through.Editing
I did do a little simple post-processing using Lightroom. Honestly, I am an amateur and still learning how to use processing software. In my camera bag
My camera bag is a sling bag that I can wear while hiking fairly easily. I carry a standard lens, wide angle and telephoto lens, extra batteries, lots of lens caps and cleaning cloths. I have a tendency to lose the caps so I carry extra!Feedback
My advice for trying to capture a similar shot is have patience, visit the location before hand and frame the shot in your mind. Look at the scene at different times of the day and how the natural light changes the landscape. I also recommend using a tripod to get a steady shot. The most important advice I can offer is have FUN! Take photos of what you love and enjoy every moment!
