Location
On a recent trip to New Zealand, we had hired a Motorhome of a local for 5 weeks and planned to do both Islands. This was taken in on the North Island at a place called Castlepoint.Time
It was late afternoon when we finally arrived, we didn't have long because we were booked on the ferry out of Wellington first thing. The plan had been to wait for the sunset but time got the better of us. Still the light was amazing as it tends to be in New Zealand late in the day and I could have stayed all night given the chance....Next time!Lighting
Had to make the best of what I had.Equipment
Shot was taken with a Canon 6D, canon 16-35 f2.8 lens and nothing else. should have used my tripod!Inspiration
I love seascapes, they are my favourite type of photography. I was hoping to do some sunset and night work here but as I've already said time got the better of us. As soon as we pulled up I knew it would make a stunning locaction for photography, the cove, lighthouse and paths just made it stunning! I barely had time to scratch the surface of the area, it was amazing1Editing
I tend to do most of my post in lightroom although I've just started using TK Actions and find these brilliant. It was a case of tone down the highlights and bring out as much detail as I could from the forground. In my camera bag
Always my Canon 6D, 16-35, 24-105, lots of lee filters because I like to slow things down when i'm out. I have a couple of larger zooms but don't normally take them every where although you can guess then that they are never with me when I need them then!Feedback
Deffinately give yourself more time than I did, explore every angle and look for those important lead in lines! Of course time of day is the most important as light changes everything in a photo! Enjoy yourself...
