Behind The Lens

Location

If I were completely honest I'd tell you that I took this picture in my bathroom because it's the only place in my house where I can get complete darkness. If I wasn't honest I'd say I took it in my multimillion dollar studio tucked away in the Swiss Alps.

Time

Around dinner time. The only reason I remember is because my tum was a rumblin'.

Lighting

Not much, I took this picture in near complete darkness and used a $2 chain of LEDs to create the light streaks.

Equipment

The camera I used was my Nikon D3300 with the standard 18-52mm lense that came in the box. I used a tripod that I got quite literally on the side of the road a few years ago. And of course there's the

Inspiration

I was teaching myself long exposure and I thought to myself, "Huh, I wonder what would happen if I did this." So I did it. I mean, there isn't really a deep story behind it. If you're looking for deep and thoughtful take a look at some of my other photos.

Editing

I actually took about three of these photos and layered them together in photoahop. Then I spent four hours meditating on whether or not I should upload it. But that's a different process isn't it...

In my camera bag

I carry my camera, a few SD cards, two lens attachments (a wide angle adapter and a macro), and my MTG cards. You never know when you'll run into another planeswalker.

Feedback

As long as you have a dark room and spare time you're set. It helps to have a camera that can preform long exposure shots as well.
