I looked outside my window in the afternoon and knew it was going to be a beautiful sunset……but where to shoot? That is always the biggest decision for me because there are so many choices. I decided to take the hour drive from San Diego up to Orange County and shoot there. Once on the beach, I walked around looking for a good composition. It was ultra low tide and I wanted to find a tide pool so that I could capture the reflection of the sky in the water. I found my spot, but knew that the exposure would be tricky because of the shadows on the sea stacks and the bright sky. I set up my gear and took several test shots before I was happy with the exposure, then I waited for the sun to set. There were a few tourists on the beach but no other photographers. It was such a calm and peaceful experience.
