Behind The Lens

Location

This is one of my favourite shots! It takes full advantage of the vibrant autumn colours. This was shot in Norway with my best model.

Time

Dusk was slowly creeping up on us, but I managed to take this shot right before it got a little too dark to work with. Daylight is rather scarce between autumn and winter seasons in Norway, more so than other places I’ve been.

Lighting

It was all natural light - no reflector used.

Equipment

My trustworthy Canon 7D mark II has helped me out on this one. It worked really well with my 50mm lens.

Inspiration

At this point I was experimenting a lot with colours and certain feelings I wanted to portray. I was looking for a sort of autumn melancholia, with a touch of mystery.

Editing

I do love playing with Photoshop. There has been some general retouching done (brightness and contrast adjustments, a little exposure work to bring out some details in the shadows) but other than that I am proud to say the colours are as they were on that day.

In my camera bag

I’m a little odd in that department! I don’t really like carrying a bag, definitely not a heavy one. When I do I merely have a change of lens and some camera cleaning supplies!

Feedback

Have fun with it! Try different angles and let the model enjoy themselves too. If it’s a great experience for everyone, it’s a win!
