Congratulations on winning my Challenge "Flying insects", I realy liked the combination of the action and the light in the flower showing the interaction between both!

Location
This photograph was taken in a private Dahlia Garden. The owner had devoted his life to Dahlias, had a huge garden of specialty Dahlias and had won many awards for his work with them. He asked me to come and photograph them, a wonderful honor. One of the days I was there, the flowers were covered in bees......Time
This photograph was taken midday on a late, September morning.Lighting
Although I prefer earlier morning light, the brighter sun allowed me to capture the sparkle in it's eye on it's final approach....nectar awaited!Equipment
This photograph was shot with my Nikon D7100 and a Nikon 18-105mm lens. When I do a shoot like this over several days, I take a lot on photographs fairly quickly....with the bees all about, even more quickly than usual...sometimes panning their flights. So, it did not suit my purpose to change lenses or set up a tripod.Inspiration
Inspiration sometimes just comes in a flash looking through the lens and not a deliberate thought beforehand! This is the case with this shot! As I was tracking this bee I marveled at the way he tucked his legs like landing gear to come to a rapid landing on the flower. Marvelous to watch! The bee inspired me!Editing
Other than cut and crop, I tweeked this shot with Macphun Creative Kit....Intensify and Noiseless. When I say tweeked...I mean very small adjustments to emphasize the bee's landing gear and flower. I prefer subtly in post processing. In my camera bag
I carry my Nikon D7100, Nikon 18-105 and 12-24mm lenses, a Sigma 150-500mm lens, MePhoto Tripod, Cleaning kit, blower, vest, bandana, extra battery, battery charger, extra cards, filters....poloarizers, and a canvas cloth for laying on the ground to keep everything clean. And always, my camera manual......Feedback
Advice? When out in nature, it's great to take the big wide angle shots...but, don't forget the tiny things you have to search for! Look down, look into, look up, look back.....study your surroundings and wait for what might appear. It is a living creature......shoot as many photographs as you can while it is present......get caught up in it's awe and wonder! You will be amazed at what your capture! Happy shooting!
