A hazy evening on Lu Shan Mountain National Park, UNESCO World Heritage Site, China. Lushan National Park, China. I flew 7000 miles, travelled 1000 miles in a pickup truck, 1000 miles by bus and taxi to get here. Was it worth it?Then i had to get back home!

Location
Lushan National Park, China. A UNESCO World Heritage Site.Time
Getting towards four oclock in the afternoon, autumn time.Lighting
The location is traditionally cloudy or hazy so I just had to take the light as it was.Equipment
Hand held shot on a Canon EOS 5D MK11, the lens was a Carl-Zeiss 135mm F2.8 M42 mount, using an M42 to EF focus confirm adapter.Inspiration
This photo was part of the background in a much larger shot. The original shot had little merit but this stood in the background waiting to be noticed.Editing
Being part of a much larger shot the photo was cropped to extract the required scene. This reduced the shot to about quarter size. Because of the misty atmosphere, unsharp mask was used to clear the haze. Final adjustments were made to luminance levels to produce the the correct shadows and highlights for the cropped scene. In my camera bag
My camera bag is a bit on the large size so I tend to carry everything I need apart from the kitchen sink. Including the EOS 5D MK11 fitted with a Carl-Zeiss 50mm F2.8, I carry the Canon EF 50mm F1.8, Carl-Zeiss 135mm F2.8 and C-Z Flectogon 35mm F2.8.Feedback
This shot is typical of areas which tend towards heavy haze and mist. Hope for an evening shot where the haze is light enough to let the sun through but heavy enough to allow a direct shot into the sun. Use manual settings and underexpose slightly to give room for post-processing.
