As the sun began to rise and the thermometer followed suit we ventured toward the heart of Isla Ometepe, Nicaragua where a fresh water lagoon beckoned. We decided to skip the bus ride, taxi, or bike rental and take a hike for what was described as a quick half hour stroll. Over an hour later we tiredly laid our eyes on the "Holy Land", Ojo de Agua (Eye of Water). A man-made lagoon of fresh water filled with natural minerals assured to do wonders for you body. Minerals or not, it was cool, refreshing water that we would have happily paid twice the entrance fee for after such a scorching hot, wearisome hike. Swimming in the turquoise lagoon and sipping fresh coconut water soon reduced the walk to nothing more than a memory. Just as we were leaving I spotted this little guy perched atop his newly fortified webbing amongst a red ginger flower.
