Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Jakuszyce, Poland.

Time

Daily training before sunrise - of 20 km cross-country skiing with only the necessary photographic inventory. I started skiing at about 5:30 am it was -20 C. and full night. My hands did froze even before I made first 15 meters of skiing but head up! - It was still about 16km to this location.

Lighting

I just wanted to vanish there with those first rays of rising sun. Homecoming...

Equipment

Canon EOS 7D, 16-36 2.8L lens, Lee 0.9 Grad Soft Filter

Inspiration

I'm addicted to roads, which is my beloved photo serie I've beed shooting for years. Those railroads covered with snow with delicate brushes of sun became my main theme that day.

Editing

Landscape photography always requires a lot of processing - here canons' RAW file was developed in CaptureOne Pro and cleaned and framed in Photoshop.

In my camera bag

It depends on the job but for now my favourite piece of kit is FUJI XT1 with 14 mm lens, another bag is filled with my "best capture setup" Phase One with 35mm. Tripod and Lee filters are a must.
