This photo was taken in my parents farm in south Brazil. I'm a medical doctor who loves photography and I visit this place since I was a little kid, but even nowadays everytime I go there I'm still amazed by it's beauty.Time
It was a cold sunny day. It was winter in Brazil that time of the year. I was going back to the farm's house with my daughter Valentina around 4 pm when she started to run in front of me. Immediately I realized that if she kept going I could take a beautiful shot of her passing under the sunlight between the trees.Lighting
When I saw the sunlight shining between the trees and I realized that my daughter was running right to the place where the sun was most bright, I dropped the stuff that I was carrying on and took the camera. I didn't have much time to adjust the settings and I knew that moment was unique, so, I just aimed the camera, waited a few seconds for her passing right under the sunlight and when I saw her blond hair shining I took the shot. I loved the way the light "embraced"her and how magical the moment was.Equipment
I used a canon 6d with a 24-105mm f4 lens. That's it.Inspiration
My daughter Valentina, she always inspires me and when I saw her that day, walking under that beautiful sunlight, I think Elena Shumilova's work just came to my mind, and I always wondered to take a photo that a least reminds hers. So I tried and I was happy with my result.Editing
As I always shoot raw, I had to boost the contrast and the saturation on the post-processing. I also made some shadows a little brighter and others a little darker. I changed the temperature a little bit, and at last I hid a part of a car on the left side of the photo that was not matching the scene. In my camera bag
I almost never carry all my stuff cause it will be to heavy and I think all the fun of going out to photograph will be gone. But I always carry my 6d body (the only one that I have), my 24-105 f4 lenses (not the best lens I know, but It can help me in almost any kind of situation outdoors to take some quick shots when you don't have time to change lenses), my 50mm f1,4 (I think this one does not need a explanation). a light tripod, a remote control and a 10stop ND filter as I love long exposure at daytime.Feedback
Chase the sun! Look at where the sun is going from, search for places where the sun rays cross through the trees, and most important: Be prepared. Let your camera in your hand and always try to adjust the settings according to the light of the place where you are. Even thou the settings were not perfect, when you "pre-adjust" the camera the chances that you miss a beautiful shot are little. An example of it it's to take off the ND filter and adjust the speed right after you are done taking long exposures and started to walk through the place.
