Racing photography is one of my biggest challenges. To have the background and tires blurred, but the driver and helmet tack sharp is very difficult.Editing
Basic contrast and sharpening adjustments, this is full frame. In my camera bag
For racing photography I carry usually a 70-200L and 100-400L, however lately I have chosen just to carry the 70-300L and save some weight.Feedback
Racing photography is a challenge. You are shooting at cars going 70 t0 200 mph with shutter speeds of 1/100 to 1/160 sec. You need the show shutter speeds to maximize the blur of the tires and background. Because of this, your panning skills have to be perfectly timed to have the driver and helmet tack sharp. My failure rate is high, but when you get it right, its satisfying.
