No man is a rock nor an island; though standing a post may seem lonely one is never truly alone.
Wonderful and moving shot.

I was a military wife to an 82nd Airborne soldier during Gulf War #1 in 1990-1991 and that was the hardest 10 month deployment ever. We didn't have the internet then so there was no emails, no cell phones and we just kept CNN on ALL.THE.TIME. because it was the first time reporters were embedded with the soldiers. This photo takes me right back to that time when I ran to the mailbox every day, woke up and fell asleep to CNN and prayed a dark sedan never pulled up to the curb. God bless our troops STILL in that God forsaken sand pit.

Always look around and see what's happening around yourself. Sometimes we get too caught up on the things that are in front of us that we miss other moments that's are happening around us. This photo almost didn't happen because I had my back to him. But as soon as I turned around and saw him overlook, I was ready to take it. Familiarize your self well with your equipment. Sometimes you only get one chance to make a great image.
