Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photograph in Vidalia GA. At a private residence.

Time

It was around 8pm

Lighting

The sun was almost gone.

Equipment

I used a Canon 5D Mark iii, with a Canon 85mm f/1.2. I took this at f/1.4 I do feel i should have photographed it at f/2.8 so the horses in the background would be a little better to see. But because I was loosing light i decided to go with the wider aperture.

Inspiration

When I photograph weddings I don't like to see the venue. This make me more curious like a child and makes me want to explore the venue with my couple, Like we are on a adventure (who doesn't love adventure? right?) I likes the open field with he horses in the back ground. we were trying to get the horses closer but they were in a very playful mood and kept running away.

Editing

I used Adobe camera raw, cs5 and one of my own presets on Silver Efex for post processing.

In my camera bag

I never carry a bag. I have have two cameras on a holdfast money maker strap. Currently I am using Leica M 240 with a 35mm f/1.4 and a Sony A7ii with a Canon 85mm f/1.2

Feedback

I would recommend using a 85MM or better. This gives couple some space to be themselves. The more comfortable they feel with each other the easier it gets to photograph the real them.
