This was taken at The Sydney Zoo and has to be one of my favourites. Taken during one of my many visits, I managed to be just about the only person around which made things a lot easier.Time
Taken just after The Sydney Zoo opened, so about 9am. Walking straight to the reptile enclosures usually beats the crowds so reduces jostling and reflections from multi coloured clothing.Lighting
I wanted to make sure that the snakes eye was the main focus and was lucky enough to just make good use of what was available indoors, standing by the enclosureEquipment
This was shot on my Nikon Z6 Aperture 71/10?ISO 800?Shutter 1/30?Focal Length 55/1?Inspiration
I love taking photos of animals, they are great models and have a habit (for which I am grateful) of looking straight at me on occasion. This time, I wasn't sure if it was curiosity or hunger, but I felt the time was right to take shots whilst being in the snake's eyes.Editing
Taken in raw, the only post-processing was a little definition. The colours spoke for themselves. In my camera bag
Always with me is my Nikon Z6, tamron 18-400mm, a macro lens and a wide angled lens. Spare batteries and cleaning tools round out the bag. Depending on the destination my mono pod or collapsible stool sometimes come along too.Feedback
Patience, patience and then some more. Also, you might not be in the right place at the right time on the right day, if that happens go for a walk or try again another day.
