....In and out like a flash! ....
..2 shots....one bad ....and thankfully ..one good ..
I had no idea what kind of bird this was... but after staring at birds for hours ...i mean research ....it came down between a type of rail, some other bird that only exists in Asia ...and a Winter Wren ....which i wasn't sold on because of the eyebrow and the colors on the throat .
..It certainly wasn't listed on any of the state environmental agency animal lists ....though, to be truthful... that would be a grand undertaking for any state to list every known species. .....But luckily...after ohhh maybe 5 or 6 hours .. eyes bleeding ... i came across a photograph of the Canyon Wren ...
.... A-ha! i said to myself. This has got to be the one.....so after double checking the finer details ...i can say... this is ...conclusively ...The Canyon Wren.
...Trust me... I almost gave up many times ....you would be surprised how many birds of completely different species actually look similar ...in size and color ...to another species. it was a daunting task...
....To tell the truth, i almost didn't take the shot! The Canyon Wren was very small and a bit far...the sun...of course was on the wrong side. It came in fast ....i swung around ...and no sooner than i had snapped a shot had it flown to another branch...a branch in a tangled mess of other branches ...there was no way my autofocus was going to pick up on a rusty brown subject in a virtual sea of winter foliage ....Autofocus on most cameras ...even the truly expensive cameras struggle in this aspect. So i make it a practice of taking as many shots from seemingly different points surrounding the subject ....Without a doubt i knew there was no way i was going to get this one ..
.....Obviously i took the shot ...one shot ....and the Canyon Wren was off again....i tried to give chase ...but the little birds camouflage was too great. ...After going over the days photography at home... i was more than elated to see this wonderful little bird. I expected a blur..or a missed focus point.
...A bird... which i never knew of. At half an ounce and between 4 and 5 inches in length ....The Canyon Wren

That is a great shot of a Canyon Wren! I am glad you were able to determine what it is. I have never seen one of these in person. We don't have them in Florida since we have no canyons here! 😀

That is a shame you don't have these birds ....but you do have alligators and eagles! Thank you very very much Kurt
