Behind The Lens

Location

The shoot was done during my annual vacation in swimming baths in Slovenia.

Time

The photo was made at about 6 a.m.

Lighting

The only source of light was the natural evening light.

Equipment

For shootings in the water, I usually have a slightly greater distance to the models than usual. That's why I often use then slightly longer telephoto lenses. But this picture I took with my Sony RX100 Mk III because it was the only Camera I had with me. No other equipment (such as reflectors, flashes, etc.) was needed.

Inspiration

We spontaneously wanted to take some pictures in the water. In addition the small bridge over the pool offered itself to take up the model from above.

Editing

After selecting the photos I choosed the color look, then I corrected, if necessary, the light in the picture a little bit. Afterwards the pic has been cropped and last but not least, I made a classic beauty retouching. Finished

In my camera bag

For my portrait shootings I usually use my full format DSLR with a set of (relatively) fast primes: A 50mm f1.8, a Sigma Art 85mm f1.4, a Sigma 150mm macro as well, the magnificent Sigma 24-35mm f2.0 Art Zoom for the slightly wider angles and sometimes the Nikon 70-200mm f4.0 (if I need it for longer distances).

Feedback

Take your model with you and go swimming. Wait for great light. A camera with manual control (but don't forget: the best camera is the one you have with you) and then go for it. And yes, don't forget to do some the post-processing ;-)
