Behind The Lens
Location
It was taken early morning on the beach of Barra, Mozambique, on the Indian Ocean.Time
With the sun rising early on the east coast of Africa, it is my favourite time to be on the beach to capture the variety of shades of colours. The photo was taken a few minute after the sun raised its head.Lighting
The light was perfect with soft pastels and virtually no hard shadows.Equipment
A handheld Nikon D3100 with a Sigma 10-20 mm lens, which I mostly use for landscapes.Inspiration
We were busy launching fishing boats from the beach when I turned around an saw the clouds accumulating on the horizon with the sun peeping over the sea. I waited until a scene which I thought was perfect presented itself and then took the photo.Editing
I used Photoshop Elements 11 to improve the colours. In my camera bag
Two camera bodies - Nikon D3000 and D3100 with the following lenses: Sigma 10-20 mm, Nikon 18-55mm, Nikon 105mm micro, Tamron 70-300mm and Sigma 150-500mm.Feedback
Be alert, wait patiently for the right moment and ensure you equipment is ready and able!
