Location
It was a small studio in Moscow, but it was one of my first big projects with different people helping me with costume and feathers for hair. There was a nice grunge wall and a wooden green box. There're also more photos from the side with big windows, it lightens the model and makes everything glow.Time
It was early winter morning, and the shoot was a great starter for the day.Lighting
It's morning, so we used both natural and studio light.Equipment
Good old Canon 5D MK II and Canon 85mmInspiration
"Wild be my boy, you burn so bright, till you illuminate. One day you're out, you give up the fight, you slow down heart-rate." This photo is a part of the project 'Girl Lilikoi'. There's a song 'Boy Lilikoi' by Icelandic band Sirgur Ros. The video for the song is very beautiful, Jonsi is like a bird here, so I wanted to recreate that atmosphere, even if it's just for a minute. I wanted the dress to be pure and goofy and strange and strict in a bit. I wanted my model to portray a spirit or some other phantom being. She did very well and we all had fun on the shoot.Editing
This shoot is almost five years old already, but I've definitely used Photoshop. Nowadays I use Photoshop and Lightroom. In my camera bag
Canon's 50mm and 85mm are my usuals.Feedback
Iceland inspires me and drives me forward: it's music, it's scenery and it's songs. There's something magical in everything from there. I'm dreaming to get there one day, but until then I'm trying to bring that dream here, to capture it on the photo and to show others a piece of this magic.
