Behind The Lens

Location

This photo has been taken in the Netherlands during the spring time where the whole country is painted with beautiful colors from the different sort of flowers.

Time

It was taken at sunset

Lighting

The sunset light shines through the yellow tulips and gives the image a beautiful golden tone in combination with that amazing sky!

Equipment

I have a Canon 6D, with a 16-35mm lens at 22 mm and f/16. I use a vanguard tripod and usually bracket 3 different exposures which I blend in later in PS.

Inspiration

Since I live in Holland for the past 10 years, I always wait patiently for this specific time of the year, where the whole country puts on its colorful flower dress. Everywhere you look you see beautiful tulips fields in all kinds of sorts and colors.

Editing

I usually bracket 3 different exposures and then blend them in PS. I use Nik collection and work a lot with the colors in order to get us much as dynamic range possible out of the RAW file.

In my camera bag

In my bag always my Canon 6D with the 16-35mm lens. I have also other lenses like a 70-200mm , 50mm and a Tamron 90mm macro. lots of Lee filters as well.

Feedback

The best time to visit Holland in order to capture such image is between beginning of April and middle of May. Don't go to touristic places in order to avoid the crowds. Always ask the farmers if you are allowed to go into their fields. Look for fields that the lines go to the east or west in order to capture the sunrise of sunset better.
