This photo was taken during an organised shoot at Royal Air Force Coningsby.Time
Taken during the golden hour at sunset.Lighting
The stunning light of a sunset shines through the cockpit and is reflected in the wing. I used a flash as a fill to avoid shadows in the foreground.Equipment
This was taken hand held using a Nikon D610 and Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 lens, Yongnuo 568 flash for fill light.Inspiration
I got the opportunity to visit Royal Air Force Coningsby for a sunset photo shoot. Three of my passions came together to inspire this, aircraft, sunset and photography. What really caught my eye was the gorgeous light shining the cockpit and the reflection on the wing.Editing
This was shot in RAW then processed using Adobe Lightroom for exposure adjustments then in Photoshop to sharpen and remove some clutter before noise reduction using Dfine2In my camera bag
As an aviation nut the go to camera and lens for airborne shots are a Nikon D500 with a Tamron 160-600mm zoom. For static aircraft the full frame of the D610 and the sharpness of the Nikkor 24-70mm give great results.Feedback
The light at sunset changes very quickly so you need to be ready to take advantage of it quickly. Always be aware of your surroundings to spot that great shot as the light changes. A fill light is great to avoid the silhouette effect from the backlighting but a silhouette can also be a fantastic photograph.
