I took this photo in my hometown inThe Netherlands.Time
I had just dropped my daughter off at school - I usually have my camera with me, so I decided to take a drive to see if I could get a nice shot somewhere. I stopped on the side of the road and walked to the top of the bridge where I took this shot - it really cold and my hands were shaking. I did not have my tripod with me, so supported the camera on the railing and took a few shots. It was about 9am and the sun had only been up for about half an hour - it was January, so the middle of winter.Lighting
Usually this is quite an ordinary scene, and I normally don't look twice when driving over this bridge...but there was something about the sunlight that morning. It was reflecting off the greenhouses and it looked really pretty.Equipment
It was just me and my Canon 650D. No tripod. The lens is a Sigma 18-200mm.Inspiration
I had just joined a 52-week photo challenge on Facebook and the challenge for that week was 'landscape'. Even though I have had my Canon DSLR for a few years, I have always just shot on Auto. I decided it was time to learn more about photography - hence the challenge. I did not know much about landscape photography yet - things like using a tripod to keep the camera steady - and that a wide-angle lens is better for landscapes. I got really lucky with this shot!Editing
No, no post-processing at all. (And someone pointed out that the horizon was slightly off and that I should have straightened it before posting the photo.).In my camera bag
a tripod, my Canon 650D and my favourite lens - the Sigma 18-200mm.Feedback
My advice is to go out and shoot - and shoot. Look at old scenes with new eyes. The beauty of digital is that there is no limit to the number of shots you can take. I shot about 10 photos in this spot that morning - and this one was the winning shot!
