Behind The Lens

Location

This was taken in the Serengeti in Tanzania.

Time

We were on a family safari and our guide had stopped our vehicle to observe a herd of elephants. It was about midday in August, so a hot day.

Lighting

It was overcast and dusty with the sun appearing sporadically. I used an ISO of 800.

Equipment

This was shot on a Canon 650D using the kit lens that came with the camera. I no longer have the lens, I think it was an 18-200mm. Handheld from the back of the safari vehicle.

Inspiration

It struck me that all three of the elephants were using the same legs as they walked away. I also liked the balance created by the 2 smaller ellies on either side of the bigger ellie.

Editing

No, this is SOOC.

In my camera bag

My Canon 80D and Tamron 18-400mm lens.

Feedback

Patience is key. Observe the animals as they go about their business and be ready to take the shot if they do something unusual.
