While travelling in NY I had to pass by the Empire state building. It's such a massive building that I wanted to capture it in a way that would make the image feel how wide, tall and strong the building is. It was so tall that sadly I wasn't able to get the famous top portion of the building but I believe that helps tell the story of how tall it really is.

Location
This photo was taken in New York City at the Empire State Building just before sunset and before going up to the top for my nightscape shot.Time
This shot was taken around 5pm in the month of Nov when sunlight was getting shorter by the day.Lighting
Just natural sunlight, No extra lighting was used on this image. I saw the sun beaming down on the building as I was walking up to it and wanted to capture that reflection the best I could.Equipment
I used a Nikon D600, Manfrotto tripod, ND10 Filter and shutter cable release.Inspiration
I always wanted to capture the Empire State Building in a way that most others haven't. You usually see this building from middle to very top and the signature color of the top of the building. For me when I see the Empire State Building for afar it doesn't truly show it's enormous size and foot print but when you walk beside the building or inside you get this real impression at the magnitude and size of this building. When I look at from this perspective even though you can't see the very top of the building you get this sense of how wide and strong this building feels.Editing
I took about 5 different exposures and blended them together in PS. I enhanced the vibrate yellow/orange sunlight that was shining over the building. I then moved along to the clouds and wanted to capture the movement of the clouds in a long exposure I felt it showed how strong the building was. Great part about photography is you can be creative and show the subject in a way that you would like to see and share it.In my camera bag
I usually always carry my Nikon camera now the D610 and a adjustable ND Filter. I always carry 1 Nikon 710 Flash and cable shutter release cable. Extra batteries a must.Feedback
I would suggest trying to show the buildings leading lines and capture it in a way so that it shows beautiful lines and even composition elements with a hint of character. Mostly show the building in a way that isn't the same view most others have photographed it. Be different and mostly have fun.
