Location
I live in Michigan and travel many local nature trails, searching high and low for the photographic moment I want to capture. I took this photo at Carpenter Lake Nature Preserve.Time
July 21, 2014 at 7:28am, I believe I had just gotten home from work and decided to go out shooting. I walked back toward a natural growth area, looked down and there was this little guy slithering along, quite fast.Lighting
The sun was in the perfect spot, shinning bright right down on his shell.Equipment
Canon 40D with 100mm f/2.8 L macro lens. Shot at f/8, 1/10th of a sec ISO 400 I do believe it was handheld.Inspiration
I love to photograph the details of nature and there is no better way than macro. The unique shell pattern in the sun is very leaf like, I thought that's very cool.Editing
The post processing that I do is kept to a minimal amount, this was cropped and a couple of other minor adjustment. In my camera bag
Canon Bodies - 40D & 7D MK II, Lenses - Canon 28-135mm, Canon 8-15mm fisheye, Canon 100mm macro, Canon 17-40mm wide and Sigma 150-500mm telephoto. Tripod, 2 extra batteries for each body.Feedback
Take your time and practice shooting in manual. Happy shooting ;-) Thank you to all that look and vote for my photographs.
