This photo was taken at my day job parking lot. The paving crew were there painting lines on the newly paved parking lot in the fall. This leaf escaped their blowers. I am guessing that someone either did not see it or did not want to bend over to pick it up in the middle of spaying that line.Time
Just got off work at 4:14pm on 11/4/15 a co-worker told me about it and I wanted to photograph it. I walked out to see if the leaf was still there and it was but not in the position I wanted it in for the shot. I arranged it as you see in the picture for the contrast. What better taste of Fall could I ask for.Lighting
It was a cloudy day so I put my phone camera on Manual settings to make the adjustments that I wanted to get the right shot.Equipment
I did not have my camera gear with me so I pulled out my phone LG G4. Camera settings 4.42 mm focal length, auto WB, Aperture 1.8, Exposure 1/40 and ISO 50 file size 7.45MB.Inspiration
I am trying to be a different kind of photographer, someone who stand out of the crowd. "Leaf Parked on the Line" is that photograph that puts me on the outside of the box.Editing
The more I can set the shot up in the camera the better, I cropped this shot. I don't really have a lot of time to do post-processing so I do as little as I can.In my camera bag
I never know what I am going out to photograph so I carry a bag FULL! 2-Bodies Canon 40D & 7D MKII, both with battery packs, Lenses consist of Canon 28-135mm (kit), 8-15mm Fisheye, 100mm f/2.8 macro, 17-40mm f/4 wide, Sigma 150-500mm Tele. 2 extra batteries for each camera and a Benro tripod.Feedback
Unless you have a great phone that has a great camera always try to carry you camera gear. If you have time to make the adjustments on the spot do it. I like the old saying "Stop to smell the roses". I have made many mistakes, zooming in to much and missing a wonderful reflection or clipping a wing off of a bird. Cropping can save a photograph from the trash can. Have fun, get out and explore this fantastic Earth we live on.
