Mt Blanc in October 2013, thanks for all the comments.
On October 13, 2013 I had the opportunity to go to Chamonix to see Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe. The viewing platform is on Aiguille du Midi at elevation of around 3800m (12500ft) while the peak is 1000m higher (15750ft). It was very windy on top and the snow seemed to be lifted off and merged with the clouds. At the same time layers of snow were dropping off forming avalanches. It was like if the mountain was alive, an unforgettable experience. I took this photo with Canon 5D MKII camera and Canon 24-105mm lens, settings were 24mm, 1-800s, f8, ISO100. Processing was by single image tonemapping in Photomatix and the final edit in Lightroom 5.

I used Photomatix to bring out the details from the shadows and finished in Lightroom 5In my camera bag
I don't change lenses on locations hence I carry either just Canon 6D with 24-105mm lens (before I bought 6D I used this lens on 5D) or 5D with 17-40mm f4 lens and my little Sony RX 100 MKII. If I go shooting long exposure I take both 5D with 17-40mm and 6D with 24-105mm, Gitzo travel tripod GT1541T with Markins head and ND8, MD400, polarizing filters.Feedback
The top of the French Alps is very weather dependent so it would be pure luck to get something very similar but there would be opportunities to get something more spectacular. Good luck! :)
