This was taken off the coast of Santa Barbara, California

Time

This was taken in the late afternoon on our way back to the dock.

Lighting

Light was waning as it was overcast and there was very poor contrast.

Equipment

Canon 1D IV, Canon 100-400L @ 400mm, ISO 1600, 1/1000 sec, f/8, handheld

Inspiration

I was so excited to see a shark in the wild, and so disappointed that I saw so little of it. However undaunted I took photos and while they seem to lack content, I loved this one in its simplicity.

Editing

There was some cropping and lots of work to bring out the contrast as the original shot in raw was very bland.

In my camera bag

Currently I have a Canon R5, Canon 7D II, Canon 90D along with Canon 400 DO, Canon 100-400L, Canon 100-500L, Canon 70-200 III 2.8L as my primary lenses.

Feedback

While the lack of subject matter was disappointing, you still take whatever shots you can and hope for the best. I love this shot as it says it all with so little to see.
