Location
this photo was taken in the high sierras at a place called wrights lake..at around 7,000 feet elTime
taken at 6;00 am it was very cold and i was fighting a swarm of mosquitos to capture it only had a few seconds lighting was changing by the minute.Lighting
the lighting and reflections were perfect the sky was slightly overcast with a clearing coming in it was cold and the fog had just lifted..i ran to the shoreline fighting mosquitos the entire way i knew i had captured something amazing the second i previewed it..persistence and putting in the effort always pays off..Equipment
i used a canon sx50 HS super zoomInspiration
i was camping at this location at the time and took a walk to the lake and this was the result..i knew it would be a good time since i had been watching the area for a few days..Editing
yes i added a bit of color boost and golden filter effect..and sky enhancement..In my camera bag
i have a canon t6s with the 18x135 a canon sx 50 superzoom for wildlife a canon rebel t3i 600d.a 18x55 kit lens a 50mm f/2.8 prime a 75x300 zoom and a set of star filters and various nd filters a remote shutter switch and always a light weight tripod for trail hiking..and a heavy duty all position vanguard tripod.alta pro 100Feedback
to capture a photo like this you need patience it helps to know your subject lighting and area. go often to the same location until you know it well what its going to look like on any given time of day waiting for the magic hour early in the morning or late in the evening takes patience many times often if you wait untill the last seconds of light you will get the shot you never expected.you have to put in the effort go to the places no one else dares go. get the shot that has never been seen or photographed by others. be different if you want to stand out from the crowd..be creative a photo is not taken it is created in the minds eye ....ansel adams..
