In this particular case, the Robber fly also known as Asilidae are like Dragonfly and Damselfly if you spot them on a stick, they will have a chance to come back to the same spot, so if you see one approach it carefully, if it flies off don't make big movements and leave the scene, it probably went for a hunt and will be back for the snack ;)
