Inspiration

Where I live we don't have this kind of Cemeteries, so I decided to go to this place during my trip to France in July 2012 to make a photo of a Cemetery. And I had in mind to make something different not the usual cliché composition. And I had in mind what to do, but the photo came out different than I imagined and was not good at all, but I continued walking around inspecting the place, and as I promised myself to come back with something new, I was inspecting every possible angle for new composition, and then I spotted this angle, and SNAP it.... I was very satisfied when I returned back to my hotel, It made my day.

Editing

Yes, a little horizon rotation. As i had my back bag for the whole day and was on my knees for this shot, I was very tired and i didn't concentrate on the horizon line, I was watching the flags and waiting for the perfect wind. Since it was about American Soldiers of WWII, so I wanted to emphasize the American flag behind the French, I shot many but this one was my final choice, i could probably get better if I waited more but I was getting out of breath already. I cloned a dry leaf halfway between the flags and the 1st foreground cross, and about 3% crop from top right corner.

In my camera bag

That year I had my EOS 50D, EFS 17-85mm, EF 70-300mm, EF 50mm, tripod. But now in 2015 I upgraded to full frame and more lenses.

Feedback

Well, the basic rules are all over the internet, but when you are on site, keeping in mind all the composition rules, and decide on the moment what to use and what to break for the final composition, but the most important, be patient and creative.
