Location
I took this photo in Tarangiri Park, in Tanzania. Tarangire famous for a large number of elephants, and in certain months of the year it is really true.Time
It was evening time, 17:31. Light was grey and soft.Lighting
Evening light is much better for elephants, coz their bodies are not contrasting.Equipment
I used Nikon D4 plus lens 70-200 f/2.8.Inspiration
I love elephants, I like to learn about their behavior. That time i liked the texture of the mud on the elephant's head and I was happy to be able to took this shot close enough to show the texture of skin and dry mud.Editing
I added more contrast and made colors deeper. In my camera bag
I usually have 2 cameras, zoom lens and wide angle lenses. Plus few special things to clean lenses and cameras.Feedback
As i told, elephants bodies are not contrasting. So, time when the sun is high is not so good to capture elephants. Depends on angle where you are and elephants, again. They are always better with morning or evening light, or, the best, with a dust.
