Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken in one of the many botanical gardens within Brookgreen Gardens which is a short drive from my home. This is one of my favorite places to take photos as there is an array of subjects which includes botanical gardens, outdoor sculptures, a zoo and sanctuaries for local wild life.Time
This was taken in the afternoon on a cloudy day.Lighting
The lighting was very good for close-up photography. Not too sunny so the colors were good.Equipment
My camera is a Canon EOS 80D with a EF-S 55-250 mm 1:4-5.6 IS STM lens in manual mode f/6.3, 1/500 sec. and ISO 250. Hand held and no flash.Inspiration
Brookgreen garden is an outdoor park which is an amazing place to walk and enjoy nature. Many my photos are from here. It's peaceful and has a natural beauty which inspires great photography.Editing
My usual post-processing includes cropping and a minimal amount of light adjustment, sharpening and noise reduction using Adobe ACR.In my camera bag
My camera bag list includes 2 extra batteries, 2 extra memory cards, 2 other lens (my EF-S 18-55 mm 1:4-5.6 IS STM and EF 28 - 135 mm 1:3.5-5.6 IS) a notebook and pen.Feedback
My advise to others would be to never stop learning. On this day I was experimenting with my 250mm lens for close-up macro work. Normally I use this lens for taking photos of wildlife however on this day another photographer was in the gardens and we were near on of the lily ponds and i noticed he was using his long lens for this purpose.
