Location
This photo was taken mid-afternoon at Huntington Beach State Park which is a place i go to take nature photos.Time
It was mid-afternoon and i was watching this Cormorant swimming in a pool when all of a sudden it dove beneath the water and came up with this huge fish. For the next several minutes the bird struggled to swallow the fish. I was had my Canon 80D in SCN mode and took about 50 picture of the action.Lighting
The lighting was great based on it being cloudy out.Equipment
Is have a Canon 80D and was using a EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM lens at f/6.3 1/500s and ISO 400. The photo was hand held.Inspiration
Actually this was a case of being in the right place at the right time and being ready to take a photo. I was sitting down and watching the Cormorant swim when the action started quickly. At this location I leave my camera in SCN mode because there many of the local birds flying about and you have to be ready quickly.Editing
yes there is some post-processing. Several odd spots were removed and some contrast was added. There was a minor white balance adjustment. In my camera bag
In this location I leave my bag in the car and have a spare battery in my pocket.Feedback
Be ready at all times. I have taken photos in this location many times and have a good ideas what to prepare for. Before I get out of the car I set-up my camera so it is ready for photos. In this case I start with SCN mode and adjust if needed.
