Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at Kennessaw Mountain National Park in Georgia, I believe while we were on our way up the trail headed to the peak.

Time

This shot was taken later in the afternoon while hiking up the mountain.

Lighting

This shot was all natural light. At this time of day it had been slightly overcast, so there was great diffusion that added to the mood of the shot

Equipment

The only equipment I had on that shoot was my Nikon d850 and a few lenses. For this shot I used my 85mm

Inspiration

I saw all the leaves falling around us, blowing off the side of the mountain. I wanted to capture those leaves while also showing a road between them.

Editing

For this image I did quite a bit of color grading, and then I added a few leaves in the background and foreground to fill in a few empty areas in the frame.

In my camera bag

I'll normally carry my Nikon d850, 4 prime lenses (35, 50, 85, 105), and my tripod. Occasionally I'll bring a fog machine and generator with led rgb strip lights.
