Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at lake Obersee in central Switzerland.

Time

It was early evening...

Lighting

Well the sun did the lighting. I just had to lighten up the foreground during post-processing to enhance the structures of the ice.

Equipment

I used my Canon 5d Mark IV, the lens EF 16-35 f4 and a tripod.

Inspiration

I love this lake with the two valleys in the background and the mountain in the middle. And I also like the ice structures of frozen lakes.

Editing

Aside from the usual (contrast, colors, ...) I had, as explained above, to lighten the foreground a little bit, but I always aim for a natural looking photo.

In my camera bag

I always take my Canon 5d Mark II and the EF 16-35 mm f4 with me. It is my absolute favorite lens and I like it for city photography as well as landscapes because of the wide angle and its sharpness. Aditionally to the lens I use diverse neutral density and polar filters to control reflections and the effects of long exposures. And of course a tripod belongs to my basic equipment.
