Behind The Lens

Location

In my studio on the walnut receptionist desk.

Time

1:59:42 PM

Lighting

This is indirect natural light entering the studio through west facing windows.

Equipment

Canon EOS 5D Mark II, EF24-70mm f/2.8L USM (@24mm @ F2.8), manuaL exposure, and white balance (3700k)

Inspiration

I was hungry, and this is the snack I prepared.

Editing

I started in ACR with a raw file, and after adjustments there saved an adobe 98 color space jpg. In Photoshop I created a new layer with 80% black - which I erased with a large soft edge brush in minor amounts (about 10%) until I had the dark vignette I was looking for. Then I flattened the image and tweaked highlights and shadows.

In my camera bag

Cameras, lenses, filters, adapters, popup reflectors, batteries, flash (if I'm not using studio strobes), triggers, receivers, extra disks etc

Feedback

Don't use auto anything! Put your camera in manual mode, and learn how each adjustment effects the image. There is no short cut to this step.
