Location
It was taken in Badalona, Barcelona, Spain.Time
This is a sun rise photo taken at around 7 AM. Even though it was just one day before switching from summer time to winter time so I had to wake up around 5:30 to go there in time.Lighting
It is all natural light of course and that morning the clouds and the sun had a quite nice balance. But since this is long exposure shot (6 min.) I placed the sun out of the frame just in case any sudden pop up during the shot.Equipment
The camera was Nikon D700 and the lens was Tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4. I used one B+W ND 3.0 filter and the tripod was Slik 300DX.Inspiration
One of the best time for long exposure landscape photography is the blue hour which gives not only a quite nice light balance but also very fancy colors in the sky. I was looking for a place near Barcelona to capture this kind of a shot and decided to give it a try at Pont del Petroli in Badalona.Editing
Since it is a 6min shot, I ended up with hot pixels so I started with fixing them. Afterwards I created 3 masks for the port, sky and the sea and adjust the curve and the colors. In my camera bag
It depends on where I go and for what. If I go for a portrait session, I take my camera + nikkor 50mm f/1.4 + nikkor 105mm f/2 lenses. If it is for landscape then I take the camera + tamron 17-35mm f/2.8-4 + ND filters + tripod.Feedback
Don't be lazy! Wake up early and look for the best angle even if you have walk a lot with all the heavy bag.
