Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was actually taken at The Mirage in Las Vegas. There is a dolphin exhibit there and an underground walkway where you can see into their tank. It was before I had my canon camera, so it was taken with my Iphone. Pretty good for an Iphone through glass.

Time

It was mid day when I was at The Mirage. This is the reason I went to The Mirage in the first place was to see the dolphins and tigers. I went down to the underground walk way and was down there for a minute when she came up to the window. It was one of the coolest things I have ever been through. She just kind of hung out at the window for a while and let me take pictures of her almost like she was posing for me. It was interesting that she did stay at the window because the trainers were up top working with them. They are so playful and fun and I'm grateful that she let me photograph her and watch her for as long as she did.

Lighting

Since it was mid day and the underground path had the big window into the tank it was not dark at all. It was a beautiful blue that reflected off the walls and lit up the little path. It was overcast also so there was no glare off the water so I got lucky it was so bright in this photo.

Equipment

I did not have my canon camera yet so this is actually taken from an Iphone. Not to bad for just a camera phone but I have actually taken some pretty amazing pictures on my phone. Now that I have a camera it goes everywhere with me, but I still us my Iphone camera quite often.

Inspiration

I went there just to see the dolphins and tigers so I had already planned to take pictures of them. I didn't expect to have one of the dolphins come hang out by the window and be so close to me. This made my picture taking experience even more exciting.

Editing

No editing at all.

In my camera bag

I have my Canon t3i rebel with a tamaron 18-275 mm lens. Some various lens filters. I have a lens cleaning rag hooked on to my camera strap cause I use it all the time, and this way I wouldn't lose it. Extra Sd cards and an extra charged battery.

Feedback

I take a ton of pictures. I play with the settings constantly to learn what and what not to do. I am learning new things about it all the time but if I take hundreds of pictures then just maybe...I'll have one amazing picture! I try new things, even things that people tell me won't look good. Because it just might turn out. Click away!
