We created this image in my Wicker Park studio in Chicago during a nice summer daytime shoot with our traveling model Sunzie.Time
Started body painting around 12pm, finished it in about 4hrs, and shot it for another hour and a half.Lighting
For this particular shoot, we only used one strobe light aimed towards her face, no umbrella, just a beauty dish.Equipment
We used Mehron Paradise makeup to body paint her skin, then we shot it with my Canon 60D camera, using a 55mm lens, no tripod, just one strobe light and a lot of positive energy.Inspiration
Our traveling model was introduced to my art several months in the making, she was intrigued by the body art and wanted to create something for her portfolio. We decided on doing something organic and natural, so we went with a water themed idea.Editing
It's all mainly hand painted and airbrushed onto her skin with makeup, but for final production, I did use Photoshop and Lightroom to balance certain colors and added a bit more sharpness to the image to detail some highlights in the design. In my camera bag
Normally just my Canon, an led light, 2 or 3 lens depending on the project, and several batteries for those random moments when no outlets allow for an external charge.Feedback
Have fun creating your art, Express yourself fully and positively. Allow everyone involved to understand all that is going to be processed and definitely pace yourself, cause perfection requires time and lots of patience.
