Behind The Lens

Location

Photo was taken back in 2012 at the Sunderland Air Show.

Time

It was taken on a warm and overcast summer afternoon. The light was perfectly moody to capture the smoke from the Red Arrows as they descended from a height with such precision.

Lighting

The lighting was natural with potential rain threatening but never came.

Equipment

Used my trusty SONY SLT-A35. My aperture was set to f/4.5 with an ISO of 100. I used my telezoom lens 750/10 shutter speed 1/1000. I used a continuous shoot to catch the right moment.

Inspiration

This was a new subject for me and wanted to experiment using the equipment I had with pleasing results.

Editing

Used Adobe Lightroom to adjust clarity.

In my camera bag

My bag normally consists of 2 lenses and a mix of filters. My bag goes wherever I go...

Feedback

I found using a continuous shot a great help as the aircraft were traveling at high speeds. Experimenting is key to knowing your DSLR’s boundaries.
