This image was taken out on the bluebonnet trails outside of Ennis Texas. Not only are there bluebonnets in the spring, but the Indian Paintbrushes are plentiful at this time also. I love the colors when they are mixed together!Time
This was taken at my favorite time of day! The golden hour. It gives your the warmest colors and the best shadows!Lighting
When shooting flowers the best time is an overcast day or close to the golden hour! This offers the best colors!Equipment
Camera was a EOS Rebel T1i. The lens used was the EFS 18-55mm kit lens!Inspiration
While out looking at bluebonnets I came across this field of Indian Paintbrushes and a few bluebonnets mixed in on a hillside. The colors together were amazing! I got down low so as to get the light coming across the tops of the flowers.Editing
There was not much detail in the sky so I replaced it with the one here and added the sun flare. So many times in taking landscape images it is difficult to get good light and shadows in the foreground with out blowing out the sky. One way you could do it would be with an HDR image, or you can add a cloud overlay to give it punch! In my camera bag
I have a canon EOS 5dmII, EOS Rebel T1i, 18-55mm lens, 50mm 1.4, 100mm macro, 2-600EX RT and a Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RTFeedback
Anyone wishing to capture Texas wildflowers like the bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes can, in most years, find them on the bluebonnet trails outside of Ennis Texas. You can go to the Chamber of Commerce in Ennis Texas for a map of the trails. April is the month that they hold the Bluebonnet Festival in Ennis.
