This photo was taken in the sand dunes at Ohope beach.Time
This image was shot around midday. I prefer to shoot with soft even light, and the sun disappeared behind the clouds briefly so I grabbed my girlfriend and rushed to the beach to take some creative portraits.Lighting
I wanted to capture an image that was softly lit so that I could Hav a more extensive choice of editing style and also so I didn’t hav any harsh shadows on the image that may Hav been unflattering.Equipment
I just used my canon 6D. And borrowed a friends 70-200 lens since I’m still yet to get a zoom lens on my own.Inspiration
I really love vast scenery, so while camping I kept looking at the flat sand dunes and wanted to use them as a backdrop while I had it.Editing
For this image I just did basic colour adjustment. I made the image quite flat with contrast. I wanted a somewhat bright image so I raised the mid tones. But the image only came to like when I found the right split toning colours. A mix of greens and blues. In my camera bag
I always Hav with me my canon 6d. And I shoot prime lenses so Hav my 85mm and 50mm. But also take with me my 16-35mm for wider shots.Feedback
It’s always wise to take in your surroundings and be imaginative. When you can see images in your head it can really give you an edge when it comes to finally composing and taking the shot. Photography is an art form and creativity is so important.
