This particular shot was taken on the north side of the river Thames in London just on the small wooden pier so i could get that slight angle to show the underside of Tower BridgeTime
This shot was captured around sunset, just as the sun started to go down across the city so i could get that golden hue of the sun under the bridge and across the surface of the riverLighting
This wasn't the original photo i was planning on taking but as the clouds started to move in and the sun started to get lower in the sky this really nice golden hue started to appear, so i quickly switched locations to try and capture as much of it as i couldEquipment
This was shot with a Canon EOS 600D with an EF-S10-18mm. Im still using my trusty Manfrotto tripod for a long exposure so i could create the smooth river surface and capture the light glowing on the rivers surfaceInspiration
This area of London has so many beautiful landmarks to capture so i love shooting around here. My inspiration for this particular capture was more in the moment however as the sun started to set and the cloud formations began to appear i could see a great opportunity appearing.Editing
I captured the same shot on a number of different settings and then layered them to form the final image. My first shot was about capturing the amazing sky that day, but then I tried a slightly longer exposure to bring some light to Tower Bridge itself and the long exposure on the riverIn my camera bag
My bags fairly packed, i usually travel with my Canon EOS 600D with a few lenses. (EF-S10-18mm/EF-S 18-55/EF-S 55-250) . Ill also carry my lens cleaning kit, some filters (namely ND filters), a torch, camera charging units, portable phone charger, camera remote and my Manfrotto tripod.Feedback
Whilst i always say planning is key to capturing a great photo, so is being prepared...and i was prepared to ignore all my planning for my original shot and switch locations to capture this! Planning is key, but sometimes (rarely) that perfect shot can present itself to you and you cant make the mistake of letting it pass because its not what you've planned
