Location
I took this photo from the banks of the river thames. I was there a fair while whilst i waited for sunset so had to keep an eye on the tide coming in.Time
This was taken on a nice warm summers evening. The sun had just started to set and the lights on Tower Bridge had just started to come on so i was lucky enough to capture both.Lighting
I got really lucky with the rippling clouds as they were just starting to fade as the sun started to set, they were gone so quickly. I opted for a long exposure as i wanted to portray a peaceful view of such a busy city and thought the rippling clouds and the smooth glowing water would be a good way to showcase this.Equipment
This was shot with a Canon EOS 600D with an EF-S10-18mm Canon lens at 12mm using my trusty Manfrotto tripod due to the long exposure. I also used a Hoya ND filter and camera remote to reduce any shake.Inspiration
I love London, there are just so many places to visit and capture with your camera, so many different perspectives to see the city from. Ive often taken pictures of Tower bridge at night as its so picturesque but this time i planned ahead and managed to find a day where the sun was shining and the tide was out so i could get a shot from underneath the bridge itself.Editing
As the sunset was so illuminating I took a few different shots from the same position and then merged a couple of them so i could feature the vivid sunset but also the amazing lighting on the tower itselfIn my camera bag
My bags fairly packed, i usually travel with my Canon EOS 600D with a few lenses. (EF-S10-18mm/EF-S 18-55/EF-S 55-250) . Ill also carry my lens cleaning kit, some filters (namely ND filters), a torch, camera charging units, portable phone charger, camera remote and my Manfrotto tripod.Feedback
My advice would be to plan ahead and be patient. Ive visited the location a number of times and have not left with great shots, the sunset was not great, the tide was in, too many people around..
