Location
This is a photo of Chicago's Lake Point Tower, the only high-rise to be constructed east of Lake Shore Drive. Chicago's Burnham plan to keep the lakeshore visibly open has prevented any other construction of high-rises near the shore in downtown Chicago. I don't know the story why this one was permitted. The photo was taken from the terrace area surrounding the building.Time
I was at the building to shoot the Navy Pier fireworks with some friends. This photo was taken near sunset, a little after 8pm.Lighting
All natural light. View is of the east side of the building.Equipment
Handheld using Nikon D7100, Nikon 16-85mm F3.5-5.6 at 25mm.Inspiration
This is a frequently photographed building. I was lucky to have a friend with a residence in the building so had access to this viewpoint. I love vertical shots!Editing
Basic editing in Lightroom, b/w conversion done in Silver Efex Pro 2In my camera bag
I do a lot of shooting in Chicago and typically don't carry a 'bag' around with me. I will decide which lens/type of photography I will shoot on a day and go as light as possible. I like to use a monopod in most cases.Feedback
Hard to argue with a great subject for your photo!
