"The Fades" by Karisa L. Clark
Emerging a creature of morbid wish,
My heart and mind battle for a kiss
Of dream’s ground to keep me from wake;
I’m blending, blurring, and fading away
Oh my heart, my mind, my soul!
What are these changes; no longer whole.
These thoughts, the poison to boil thy hate;
I am fading, fading, fading away
Oh innocents why desert me so.
Does not this lament keep me alone?
Have you not seen the price I pay;
Now just a memory, fading away.
Oh world, I now see the game!
As sirens do you call my name.
Somehow I wish that I could say,
I will never fade away.
You sing to me your lullabies,
Trying to drown my faithful cries.
Though flesh I be, I cannot stay
Or forever will I be this way.
The lies you let drift from your lips
Deceive my ears, burnt by kiss.
On ash and earth I stand to say,
I will not fade away!
So here I walk, on narrow road
With my story; still untold.
Alone I weep, alone I pray
Alone I stand; they fade away

A deep and moving image !
it is moody and story telling, both of which are enhanced through your choice of a subdued cyanotype.
The sense of pain and internal conflict emanating from the image are masterly conveyed, down the center of the frame, but also through contrasting degrees of focus, texture, light and shadow.
The combination of these elements create an unsettling yet honest image. We are disturbed by it, because it exposes the darker feelings of one's self, ones that lie deep within and nobody else sees, an entire side of ourselves that is ignored and no one likes to admit they have, because this part of ourselves is hurt, and needs comfort that we don't know how to give.
Your image and words are excellent, they are powerful statements few people dare touch. I commend you for your courage. Thank you, for sharing.
