Its not a joke when I say I take my camera everywhere. I was visiting my grandmothers on a crisp autumn afternoon after a mixture of rain and sleet had fallen. I always love taking macros in my grandparent's yard because they have a lovely variety of leaves, which makes for a stunning visit down their forested area.Time
This photo was taken during the afternoon.Lighting
The lightning is natural. I rarely use my flash.Equipment
I use a Kodak PixPro AZ521 camera on the macro setting and my legs, which I bent to take this picture of a leaf on my grandparent's driveway.Inspiration
I love the way raindrops seem to glow after a fresh rain and the sun just starts to come out, but never quite does. When the clouds conceal the sun only slightly, it makes the raindrops have a silver luminescent quality that is almost otherworldly. I am a nature and storm photographer, so I am naturally enthusiastic when rain-clouds form overhead and I like to take pictures of the way weather affects even the tiniest elements around us.Editing
I usually do slight editing in Photoshop to make the colors and clearness pop. It is true that a camera, no matter how amazing it may be, cannot capture the full extent of the beauty like when you see it in person. But post-processing helps my viewers get a better understanding and an immersive experience of what I see and what I observe. In this instance I increased the contrast, the clarity, and the saturation ever so slightly to balance out the image and tell the story. I really wanted that deep orange to show through on certain portions of the leaf as well as that glow effect on the raindrops. In my camera bag
I have my Kodak PixPro camera, my backup charger/battery, my mini tripod, my tripod, my monopod, and a lens cleaner with a microfiber cloth. I am aiming to eventually obtain a Canon SL3 and a kit of lenses I can use. Otherwise, I use a completely digital camera (without lenses or manual focus - which you can imagine takes some skill to manipulate to focus correctly on certain subjects like clouds).Feedback
Take note of the world around you. Look up. Look Down. Don't just glance at things that are eye level. The best things, the things that should be brought to our attention, are usually hiding above and below you.
