Behind The Lens

Location

Manhattan Beach Pier in Los Angeles, CA.

Time

This image was taken at sunset.

Lighting

I just let nature do its thing. Shooting here at low tide is beautiful because the wet sand offers great reflections of the sunset colors and the pier itself.

Equipment

This image was taken with my Canon 6D and Rokinon 14mm f2.8

Inspiration

I love this spot because it is photogenic all year. But especially in the winter when the sun sets right behind the pier.

Editing

The only post processing was color adjustments in Lightroom.

Canon 6D, Rokinon 14mm f2.6, Canon 16-35mm II f2.8, Canon 24-105mm f4

Feedback

Sometimes great sunsets happen when you least expect. I always strive for partially cloudy skies. And it's always a good idea to wait past when the sun dips below the horizon. A lot of people pack up and leave, missing the light show that happens about 20-30 minutes after the sun has set. Finally, when shooting sunsets or sunrises, find interesting foreground subjects that lead your eye to the horizon.
