Location
This is a photo of St. Mary's Cathedral in Killarney Ireland. This was my first trip that required a passport! Of all of the churches we saw on our Ireland adventure, this one just got to me more than any of the others. It was beautiful and awe inspiring.Time
This photo was taken in the late afternoon. The sun was hiding behind clouds.Lighting
I took this photo when the sun was behind clouds. I loved the clouds in the photo, especially the ones reflected in the big windows.Equipment
I took this photo with my Canon t3i with the 18-55mm kit lens at 18mm. It was hand held.Inspiration
The cathedral itself was completely inspiring. I took this photo after walking around inside the building. The inside is amazing as well, but I only have a single photo from inside, because I felt it was too sacred of an experience and I wanted to just be there. I also really loved the reflections in the windows on the church.Editing
I processed this in lightroom. I converted it to a black and white, adjusted the whites and blacks, increased the contrast and the clarity. I may have made some other small adjustments, as well, but those are the main things that I changed. In my camera bag
I don't carry a lot of gear. I have my Canon t3i and 4 lenses. I have the 18-55 kit lens, a 10-18mm wide angle lens, a 40mm 2.8 prime, and an 85mm 1.8 prime. I have recently started only taking one lens every time I go out to shoot. I think it makes me more creative. I have to figure out how to get the best photo with whatever lens I have with me, instead of switching lenses all of the time. If I'm going out specifically for landscape photos (especially waterfalls), I will take my tripod, but generally, I just have my camera and my lens of the day.Feedback
Keep your eyes open. Look for inspiration all the time. Don't let weariness cause you to miss the beauty around you!
